Religion: Good or Bad?

I tend to be one to think about the big picture from time to time. I like to sit back and try and get a feel for a topic.  I’ll mull it over for a few hours and just generally see what I come up with. More than once I’ve gravitated towards the topic of religion. This make sense seeing as its such a close to the heart topic for pretty much everyone in one form or another. Over the years I’ve thought about what I personally believe in, how I feel about what other people believe in and generally what kinds of impacts it has on our lives as a whole.

After a considerably amount of thinking I’ve come to a conclusion. That conclusion is that Religion is probably the single most destructive concept to be created by mankind to date. Second to that is a legal system that is more concerned about lining their pockets with cash than actually working to protect out lives and liberties. But thats a whole different article to be written.

Its a Vicious Circle

I swear I will never understand how our modern owrld has come to be. Its almost like a group of people sat down and went ‘Hmm. lets think of the most inefficient and stupide way of doing things. We’ll keep thinking these things trying to one up eachother. And when we finally can’t think of anything more rediculous and stupid than the last idea, THAT’S the idea we’ll use.’

What spurred this on? Simple. apparently I got a parking ticket at sometime in the past. But these guys in all their brilliance just leave the ticket sitting on the car. No way of being sure the person actually gets it. Just ‘Swoop’ there we go. Ticket sitting on the car. Cause obviously nothing could ever possibly happen to that ticket. I get a letter threatening suspended license and a warrant for my arrest if I don’t pay off a parking ticket -I’VE NEVER SEEN-. Not to mention, isn’t arrest a little hefty for a $60 expired tag parking ticket? I mean seriously. Like our penal system wasn’t under enough pressure as it is. Now we have to incarcerate anyone affiliated with weed, legal or not, and random people who just had the misfortune of not getting the ticket that some jackass just set on the windshield!

At anyrate, now I have to take time off work to go deal with this so I don’t get any disruptions to my ability to drive or walk around free. Both of which are things I tend to like having access to.

Welcome to America. Land of the free indeed.

Madness of last week

So last week I was sitting at work and I was trying to focus on making myself care enough to get something done. I was finding it difficult however because one of the first things to happen when I got into work was to have my co-workers start commenting and complaining about a problem with a build that should never have happened. It was such a simple thing that people had repeatedly pointed out, so to have it actually happen anyway stopped me short.

Next it was to hear about the Somalian Pirates that have hijacked yet another ship over by Somalia that nobody will put the kind of effort into stopping that they should. Then you hear about Obama not following through with the transparency of government promise where Warrantless Wiretapping is concerned. Not only preventing the lawsuits that are trying to punish those who stepped on our Liberties during the Bush Administration, but helping to protect the people like Cheney as well.

I’m nervous where this is all heading. Between Daytraders who don’t understand the concern of long term investment (Here is good information on the whole process including some sound Predictions and suggestions) to Political face offs that are preventing anything useful from being put into place. I can’t help but be concerned where we are going to find outselves in the next few years.
